Merle Martinson was born in Scarville IA in 1937. He received a BA in philosophy from Pacific Lutheran University in 1959 and later studied with painter William Ivey. Martinson has lived and maintained a studio in Seattle for many years. He has shown his work in galleries and noncommercial venues on the west coast since the late sixties. Martinson works in oil on both paper and canvas.
