Anne E. Hirondelle * older work

Since letting go of my signature glazed vessels in 2002, I have continued to explore traditional vessel-making techniques in the service of more formal sculptural ideas.  My 2010 exhibit includes three separate but related series:  Re:Forms, Extrapolations, and Re:Coils.  The Re:Forms are constructed from one or more thrown bowls that were cut apart and reconfigured.  Each Extrapolation began as a thrown barrel shape that was cut into random pieces and reassembled to yield a new and previously unknown form.  The Re:Coils are made of one or more extruded coils that are combined to create free-standing and wall-mounted pieces.  All are made of stoneware and painted with a combination of latex and acrylic.
