Since letting go of my signature glazed vessels in 2002, I have
continued to explore traditional vessel-making techniques in the
service of more formal sculptural ideas. My 2010 exhibit includes
three separate but related series: Re:Forms, Extrapolations, and
Re:Coils. The Re:Forms are constructed from one or more thrown bowls
that were cut apart and reconfigured. Each Extrapolation began as a
thrown barrel shape that was cut into random pieces and reassembled to
yield a new and previously unknown form. The Re:Coils are made of one
or more extruded coils that are combined to create free-standing and
wall-mounted pieces. All are made of stoneware and painted with a
combination of latex and acrylic.
