Artist Statement

I have been working on these mixed media drawings for over fifteen years. They seem to be the result of a subconscious investigation and interpretation of my environment and what I experience and witness in that environment. I do not begin with any preconceived idea. I realize the image as the work progresses, often through many transformations as I apply, scrape off and reapply oil pastel, colored pencil and pencil. Intuition guides my process and a mysterious and imaginary world evolves that is somehow oddly familiar.
